International Community Service Seminar: Islamic Business Practices and Export Opportunities for SMEs
After delivering a seminar on international economics and finance to the Economics students yesterday, Professor Dr. Hassanuddeen Abd Aziz, sponsored by Bank Riau Kepri Syariah, continued with a seminar for the general public on Islamic Business Practices and Export Opportunities for SMEs on Friday, October 25, 2022. This time, he was not alone; he was joined by another distinguished professor from the Economics Department, Professor Dr. H. B. Isyandi, SE, MS, who also shared insights on the same topic.
The seminar was primarily attended by entrepreneurs from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the general public, with a good number of students also participating. The event was also graced by faculty members from the Economics Study Program, including the Head of the Department (Kajur), Dr. Yusni Maulida S.E., M.Si, Secretary of the Department Mardiana S.E., M.Si, Dr. Any Widayatsari, Dra. Hj. Rita Yani Iyan, MS. SE, M.SE, Dr. Eka Armas Pailis S.E., Rahmita Budiartiningsih, SE, M. Hum., Bunga Chintia Utami, S.IP., ME, Supriani Sidabalok S.Pd.M.Si.MEc, Drs. Wahyu Hamidi, M.Si, and Anthony Mayes, SE. M.Si.
"Through this event, we hope that the SMEs and students who are running their businesses can gain the knowledge they need to grow their businesses, even to the point of exporting abroad and becoming cross-border businesses," said Dr. Yusni Maulida S.E., M.Si, Head of the Development Economics Department.
The seminar, held at the Yudisium Room of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Riau and starting at 09:00 WIB, went smoothly and generated enthusiasm from both students and SME entrepreneurs from various industries.
During the discussion on SME exports, the two professors emphasized the importance of enhancing the quality of skilled labor, products, and financial management in order to compete in the global market. They also pointed out that while foreign products dominate the market, we are actually well-positioned to compete because of our natural resource advantages.
