Pekanbaru, May 11, 2026 — To celebrate the 61st anniversary of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), which falls on May 13, 2026, PGN Pekanbaru Area provided support to the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Riau (FEB UNRI) by donating 100 tree seedlings to the FEB UNRI Tree Bank on Monday (May 11, 2026).
The tree seedlings donated included Ketapang Kencana, Tabebuya, and Tanjung. All of the seedlings are now at the FEB UNRI Tree Bank, and some were planted directly on the FEB UNRI grounds as part of strengthening the Green Campus program.
The FEB UNRI Tree Bank is one of the FEB UNRI Green Campus' strategic programs, focusing on reforestation, environmental conservation, and strengthening ecological awareness on campus. This program serves as a management platform for various tree planting and maintenance activities involving both the academic community and external partners.
The tree seedling handover demonstrates synergy between industry and higher education institutions in supporting sustainable development and environmentally friendly energy transition efforts. In addition to strengthening the campus' green open spaces, tree planting is also expected to improve air quality and create a more beautiful and comfortable learning environment.
The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Riau, Dr. Hj. Alvi Furwanti Alwie, S.E., M.M., expressed her appreciation for the contribution and concern of PGN Area Pekanbaru in developing the FEB UNRI Green Campus program.
"We would like to thank PGN Area Pekanbaru for their support of the FEB UNRI Tree Bank, which is part of the Green Campus program. This tree seedling donation represents a positive collaboration in building a culture of environmental awareness within the university."
According to Dr. Alvi, FEB UNRI remains committed to developing a green campus through various sustainable environmental programs, including strengthening the campus forest, reforesting the faculty environment, and providing environmental education for the academic community.
Meanwhile, Charly Manullang, a representative of PGN's Pekanbaru Area, stated that the activity was part of PGN's 61st anniversary celebrations, which this year focused on sustainability and its commitment to energy transition.
"Through this tree seedling handover, PGN wants to contribute to supporting environmental conservation and the greening program implemented by the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UNRI. We hope this synergy will continue and provide long-term benefits for both the environment and the community," he said.
The collaboration between PGN Pekanbaru Area and FEB UNRI through the Tree Bank is expected to be a concrete step in supporting the creation of a green and sustainable campus ecosystem.
