Pekanbaru, May 13, 2026 — The Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Riau (FEB UNRI) once again offered international learning experiences to students through the Capita Selecta program, held in Malaysia from May 11–13, 2026. This program, attended by students of the Master of Management Program at FEB UNRI, aimed to broaden their global business and management horizons through hands-on learning at strategic academic institutions and industries.
The series of activities took place at three main locations: the Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB) at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Kuala Lumpur, the Siti Khadijah Telekung Refinery, and the Danson Chocolate Museum. The visit was designed to provide students with practical experience in business management, marketing strategies, creative industry development, and an understanding of the international business ecosystem.
During their visit to OYAGSB at UUM Kuala Lumpur on May 12, 2026, the FEB UNRI delegation was welcomed by Lt. Colonel (CD) Prof. TS Dr. Hjh. Norazah Mohd Suki. The meeting discussed opportunities for academic collaboration, development of international networks, student and lecturer exchanges, as well as the potential for research collaboration between UNRI and UUM. This activity is also part of strengthening international academic relations between the two institutions in supporting the internationalization of higher education.
Lt. Colonel (CD) Prof. TS Dr. Hjh Norazah Mohd Suki said that OYAGSB UUM really appreciates the academic visit of FEB UNRI Master of Management students as part of efforts to strengthen international academic networks and expand strategic cooperation between higher education institutions in the region.
"Academic interaction between countries like this is a significant platform in enhancing collaboration in the fields of education, research, and building student capacity. We hope that the relationship between UNRI and Universiti Utara Malaysia will continue to be strengthened through various academic initiatives, student and lecturer mobility, and research collaboration in the future."
The accompanying lecturer for the activity, Prof. Dr. Zulkarnain, S.E., M.M., stated that the international Capita Selecta program is an important part of strengthening experiential learning for Master of Management students at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNRI.
"Through direct interaction with educational institutions and industry in Malaysia, students gain a more comprehensive understanding of modern management practices, organizational development, and the ever-evolving dynamics of global business. Academic experiences like this are crucial in shaping students' strategic perspectives in the era of global competition."
Echoing this sentiment, Prof. Jumiati Sasmita, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., assessed that international academic activities have strategic value in broadening students' horizons, particularly in the fields of management and global business.
"In addition to enriching academic perspectives, this visit also encourages students to understand the importance of innovation, international collaboration, and adaptability to the transformation of the business world in the era of globalization and digitalization. This provides important provisions for students to improve their academic and professional competencies," said Prof. Jumiati.
Separately, the Dean of FEB UNRI, Dr. Hj. Alvi Furwanti Alwie, S.E., M.M., expressed her appreciation for the event when met in her office. She stated that international programs for postgraduate students are a crucial part of supporting the development of a global academic atmosphere within the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UNRI.
"We greatly appreciate international academic activities like this because they broaden students' horizons and provide cross-border learning experiences relevant to current business developments. These experiences will undoubtedly be an important added value for students in developing their academic and professional competencies."
Dr. Alvi also expressed her hope that the good relationship between FEB UNRI and UUM will continue to grow through various academic collaborations, research programs, and student and lecturer exchanges in the future.
