Accounting Department of FEB Universitas Riau Successfully Hosts Guest Lecturer on "Fraud Uncovered: Types, Theories, and Motivations"
The Accounting Department of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Riau (FEB UNRI) successfully organized a Guest Lecturer event on [date of the event]. The event, themed “Fraud Uncovered: Types, Theories, and Motivations,” aimed to expand students' knowledge on contemporary issues surrounding fraud in the field of accounting.
The event was officially opened by the Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Program in Accounting, Dr. Meilda Wiguna, SE., M.Sc, who, in her speech, highlighted the importance of a deep understanding of fraud issues and their impact on accounting practices. “This theme is highly relevant as it equips students with knowledge about the different types of fraud, the theories behind it, and the motivations driving fraudulent actions, so that students can become more aware of unethical practices in the professional world,” Dr. Meilda Wiguna said.
The event was attended by the Vice Dean III of FEB UNRI, distinguished professors including Prof. Dr. Ria Nelly Sari, SE, MBA, Ak, Prof. Dr. Rita Anugerah SE., MAFIS, and Prof. Dr. Enni Savitri, SE, MM., Ak, as well as students from the English Class of the Accounting Department, who formed the audience. The keynote speaker for the event was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Razana Juhaida Johari, CPA(M), CA(M), from UiTM Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. With her extensive experience in accounting and auditing, Prof. Razana provided an in-depth presentation on various aspects of fraud, covering common types of fraud, the underlying theories of fraudulent actions, and the motivational factors behind them.
This Guest Lecturer event is hoped to become a regular agenda that enriches the academic and professional knowledge of students in the Accounting Department at FEB Universitas Riau and strengthens international collaboration with higher education institutions abroad.
