Pekanbaru, February 10, 2026 — Efforts to foster environmentally responsible behavior within the campus community continue to be strengthened through concrete action. Green Social FEB UNRI, in collaboration with the FEB UNRI Tree Bank, organized a Tree Seedling Sharing Initiative, held from February 10–12, 2026, from 09:00 to 15:00 WIB at the Gazebo of Building C, FEB UNRI.
This activity carried the spirit of encouraging members of the academic community not to stop at campaigns alone, but to take direct part in planting and caring for trees as part of strengthening the Green Campus movement.
The tree seedlings distributed were sourced from the FEB UNRI Tree Bank, obtained through the support of related institutions, namely the Regional Environmental and Forestry Agency (DLHK) and the Indragiri Rokan Watershed Management Agency (BPDAS Indragiri Rokan). This collaboration reflects campus synergy with stakeholders in expanding a sustainable greening movement.
The seedlings were not only intended to be planted within the FEB UNRI campus area, but were also encouraged to be planted in the home environments of students, lecturers, and educational staff. This initiative forms part of the FEB UNRI Tree Bank’s role in broadening the impact of greening efforts, ensuring that the benefits are felt more widely and consistently through the participation of the academic community beyond the campus grounds.

The Dean of FEB UNRI, Dr. Hj. Alvi Furwanti Alwie, S.E., M.M., who was present at the event location, stated that this initiative reflects the faculty’s commitment to encouraging environmentally friendly behavioral change starting from simple steps.
“The sustainability movement does not always have to begin with something grand. This tree seedling sharing initiative invites us to start with the most tangible action: planting and nurturing. From one seedling that grows, we are planting hope for a greener campus and a more sustainable future,” said Dr. Alvi.
The Head of the Green Social Team, Dr. T. Firly, emphasized that the program is not merely about distributing seedlings, but about encouraging the development of consistent and impactful planting habits.
“We want to cultivate the awareness that environmental care must be proven through action. The mechanism is simple: take a seedling, plant and care for it, then document it. What matters most is ensuring that the seedling truly grows well,” he explained.

During the implementation period, members of the academic community were invited to come to the event location to receive seedlings, along with brief guidance on proper planting techniques and initial maintenance. The Green Social Team also encouraged participants to document their planting activities as part of an educational campaign and to strengthen the green movement within FEB UNRI.
Through this initiative, FEB UNRI hopes to foster broad participation among students, lecturers, and educational staff in expanding green spaces and reinforcing sustainable behavioral change on campus—beginning with one simple act: planting a tree.
