
Pekanbaru, January 10, 2026 — The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Riau (FEB UNRI), conducted an academic visit to Universiti Selangor (UNISEL), Malaysia, through the Master’s Program in Accounting and the Master’s Program in Economics from January 8–10, 2026. This activity was part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation and enhance the quality of the university’s tridharma, particularly in the areas of education, research, and community service.
This academic visit aimed to expand institutional networks between FEB UNRI and Universiti Selangor, while also serving as a forum for the exchange of academic knowledge and experience. The FEB UNRI delegation was led by the Coordinator of the Master’s Program in Accounting, Dr. Novita Indrawati, S.E., M.Si., Ak., C.A., and the Coordinator of the Master’s Program in Economics, Dr. Any Widyatsari, S.E., M.Si., and was accompanied by 15 postgraduate student representatives from both programs.
During the visit agenda, the FEB UNRI delegation was officially welcomed by the Deputy Dean for Research and Postgraduate Studies of Universiti Selangor, Dr. Zaharuzaman Jamaluddin, along with members of the academic community. The activities began with an institutional introduction session presenting the profiles of the study programs, academic offerings, and achievements of each program. The discussion then explored potential areas of collaboration, including joint research, joint publications, faculty and student exchange programs, as well as collaboration in international seminars and conferences.

The Master’s Program in Accounting and the Master’s Program in Economics of FEB UNRI also held focused discussions with the relevant faculties and study programs at Universiti Selangor. The discussions concentrated on the development of internationally oriented curricula, the implementation of applied research in the fields of accounting and economics, and strategies to enhance the global competitiveness of graduates.
The series of activities continued with academic discussions on the roles, responsibilities, and ethics of research delivered by Prof. Dr. Nik Hasnah Nik Mahmood, as well as sessions on strengthening research culture and quality assurance by Prof. Dr. Noor Akma Mohd Salleh. The activities took place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. local time. In addition to the academic discussions, the delegation also participated in a campus tour to gain closer insight into the academic facilities and learning support infrastructure at Universiti Selangor. The visit concluded with a luncheon hosted by the Faculty of Business and Accountancy of Universiti Selangor.

The Dean of FEB UNRI, Dr. Hj. Alvi Furwanti Alwie, S.E., M.M., in a separate meeting, stated that this academic visit represents a strategic step in promoting the internationalization of postgraduate education at FEB UNRI.
“Through this academic visit, FEB UNRI is committed to strengthening sustainable international networks. Collaboration with Universiti Selangor is expected to enhance the academic quality of both faculty members and students, while also encouraging the production of joint research and scholarly publications that are relevant to global economic and business challenges,” Dr. Alvi remarked.

Through this activity, FEB UNRI hopes that the international cooperation established will not only lead to improvements in academic quality, but also contribute to the development of knowledge and the resolution of economic and business challenges at both regional and international levels. This academic visit forms part of FEB UNRI’s strategic efforts to realize its vision of becoming a leading faculty with global competitiveness, in line with the demands of higher education internationalization.
