**In-House Training on Data Processing Software and Econometrics with a Sustainable Economics Topic:   Faculty of Economics and Business UNRI Inaugurates New Computer Laboratory**

Pekanbaru, 28 November 2024 – The Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Riau (FEB UNRI) successfully held an In-House Training on the Use of Data Processing Software and Econometrics with the topic “Sustainable Economics” and simultaneously inaugurated a new Computer Laboratory. The event, held at the FEB UNRI Auditorium, was attended by faculty members and featured an expert speaker, Akhmad Akbar Susamto, S.E., M.Phil., Ph.D., from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM).

The event was opened with a speech by the Dean of FEB UNRI, Dr. Hj. Alvi Furwanti, SE., MM. In her speech, she emphasized FEB UNRI’s commitment to continually improving the quality of education and research in the field of economics.

“This event is a strategic step in preparing both students and faculty to be more competent in data processing and econometric analysis, especially concerning sustainable economic issues. Additionally, the inauguration of this computer laboratory is expected to serve as a facility that encourages the creation of high-quality research within the campus environment,” she stated.

The training focused on the use of data processing and econometrics software relevant to sustainable economic analysis. The speaker, Dr. Akhmad Akbar Susamto, is a leading academician and researcher known for his contributions to environmental economics and development policy. In this session, he provided an in-depth understanding to the participants.

Dr. Akhmad explained the importance of data analysis in supporting environmentally friendly economic policies. He outlined how to integrate environmental, social, and economic variables into econometric models. “Data is the key to designing evidence-based policies. By understanding and processing data properly, we can provide real solutions to the challenges of sustainable development,” Dr. Akhmad said during the session.

After the training session, the event continued with the inauguration of the FEB UNRI Computer Laboratory. This laboratory is equipped with 20 new computer units and the latest data analysis and econometrics software. It is expected to serve as a hub for academic and research activities for both students and faculty members.

The inauguration was symbolically carried out by the Dean of FEB UNRI, Dr. Hj. Alvi Furwanti, SE., MM. In her remarks, she appreciated FEB UNRI’s ongoing efforts to innovate and provide high-quality educational facilities. “This laboratory is not just a physical space, but also a center for creativity and innovation. I hope this facility will be maximally utilized to support the advancement of knowledge, especially in the field of sustainable economics,” she said.

The event concluded with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Akhmad Akbar Susamto as the speaker and a group photo with all participants. In the final evaluation, participants expressed that they gained new insights relevant to their academic and professional development.

With the success of this event, FEB UNRI has demonstrated its commitment to continuing as an institution that supports the development of science and technology, particularly in the field of sustainable economics. The presence of the new computer laboratory also marks a concrete step in supporting the achievement of the university's vision as a center of excellence in economic education at both national and international levels.
