The Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Riau, served as the host for the 2025 AFEBI Pre-Congress Meeting.

Pekanbaru – On October 8–9, 2025, the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Riau (FEB UNRI), proudly hosted the Pre-Congress and Workshop of the Indonesian Association of Faculties of Economics and Business (AFEBI), attended in person by the National Executive Board (DPN) of AFEBI, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Kadir, M.Si., CIPM, CWM, CRA., CRP. This event is part of the series leading up to the upcoming AFEBI National Congress and serves as a platform to strengthen collaboration among faculties of economics and business across Indonesia.

The event, held at the FEB UNRI campus, was attended by faculty leaders, academics, and representatives from various member universities of AFEBI. The presence of the AFEBI National Executive Board brought a special sense of enthusiasm to the entire academic community of FEB UNRI, inspiring them to remain actively engaged in advancing the field of economics and business in ways that are adaptive to the changing times.

In her opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Riau, Dr. Alvi Furwanti Alwie, SE., MM., expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the trust placed in FEB UNRI as the host of the event. She also emphasized the importance of synergy among higher education institutions in addressing global challenges, including digital transformation, sustainable economics, and strengthening research quality in the fields of economics and business.

The workshop, held as part of the event series, carried the theme “Formulating Strategic Directions and Mission-Based Institutional Governance.” It featured speakers from both academia and national practitioners, including Prof. Drs. B.M. Purwanto, M.B.A., Ph.D. (FEB UGM), Yulianti, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D. (Dean of FEB UI), Dr. Fajri Muhaja, SE., M.Si. (FEB Unand), Dr. Anggara Wisesa, S.Hum., M.M. (SBM ITB), and Dr. Zulfarina, M.Si. (UNRI).

The discussions focused on strategies for curriculum development, inter-university research collaboration, as well as the opportunities and challenges faced by economics education in the digital era.

Meanwhile, the Pre-Congress agenda focused on consolidating and strengthening AFEBI’s organizational direction moving forward, including preparations for the upcoming National Congress. The AFEBI National Executive Board presented several strategic points that will serve as key discussion topics during the main congress and encouraged all members to take a more active role in realizing AFEBI’s vision as a strategic platform for advancing economics and business education in Indonesia.

The event concluded with visits to various facilities at the FEB UNRI campus and a friendly gathering session that fostered closer relationships among AFEBI members. It is hoped that this event will serve as an important milestone in strengthening national academic networks and enhancing the tangible contributions of higher education institutions to the nation’s economic development.
