FThe Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Riau, has established a strategic partnership with the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Indragiri Hilir Regency through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement on the Preparation of a Study for Strengthening the Sago-Based Economy and Environmental Sustainability in Indragiri Hilir Regency for the year 2025.
The signing ceremony took place on August 13, 2025, at the D3 Building of the University of Riau, Jl. Pattimura, and was attended by leaders from both parties. Representing FEB, University of Riau were the Dean, Dr. Hj. Alvi Furwanti Alwie, SE., MM, and Vice Dean III, Rendra Wasnury, SE., MIB, while representing Bappeda Indragiri Hilir Regency was Drs. H. Tuah Muhammad Syaifullah, MM, Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency of Indragiri Hilir Regency, along with his team.
This collaboration aims to develop a comprehensive study that can serve as a reference for strengthening the economic potential of sago-based products, one of the region’s leading commodities. In addition to focusing on economic aspects, the study also emphasizes the principles of sustainability and environmental conservation, with the expectation of generating positive impacts on community welfare while preserving the regional ecosystem.
Through this collaboration, both parties are committed to optimizing local resource potential, strengthening the foundation of research and community engagement, and encouraging the creation of innovative, effective, and sustainable policies to support the development of Indragiri Hilir Regency.
