Pekanbaru, June 20, 2025 — A workshop was held with the theme “Recycling into Money,” featuring Mr. Haris Daniel, CEO of PT. Ibra and also an alumnus of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Riau, as the keynote speaker. The event was officially opened by the Dean of FEB, Dr. Hj. Alvi Furwanti Alwie, SE., MM, who began with a welcoming address.
In her remarks, the Dean outlined several programs planned as part of the 2025 World Environment Day commemorations. These include the initiation of a Tree Bank, a Waste Bank, Plant Seed Enrichment, Environmental Art Performances, and others. The Dean expressed hope that all these programs can be implemented and sustained in the long term. She also emphasized the importance of support from all FEB institutions, faculty members, and educational staff to ensure the success of these initiatives.
On this occasion, the Vice Dean III, Rendra Wasnury, SE., MIB, also delivered a speech as the Chair of the Workshop Committee. He stated that it is time for the university to take an active role in addressing waste management issues, one of which is through this workshop, with the hope that all participants will gain broader insight into waste management practices.
The workshop proceeded in a very engaging manner, beginning with a presentation by the speaker, followed by a discussion moderated directly by Vice Dean III. Several questions were raised by the Dean, students, educational staff, and even the cleaning service personnel. It was evident that the attendees gained new insights — realizing that waste, which has often been neglected and carelessly discarded, can actually generate income if managed wisely.
