Center of Excellence (CoE) on Strengthening Green Economic Values in Wetland Areas: FEB UNRI’s Research Roadmap for 2025–2029

Pekanbaru, January 6, 2026 — The Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitas Riau (FEB UNRI) convened a meeting to deliberate on the Center of Excellence (CoE), emphasizing the formulation of a research agenda aimed at strengthening green economic values in wetland areas for the 2025–2029 period. The meeting was held at the Meeting Room of the FEB UNRI Dean’s Building on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. WIB.

This meeting marked FEB UNRI’s initial step in affirming the implementation of the Center of Excellence (CoE), particularly in the area of research. Research activities in 2025 are positioned as an initial foundation and mapping phase, which will then be strengthened and further developed in 2026 in alignment with the faculty’s research themes. Within this framework, the FEB UNRI CoE in the research domain is designed to serve as a reinforcing pillar for an integrated and sustainable academic direction.

Overall, the FEB UNRI CoE encompasses five main areas—research, community service, assisted villages, green campus, and social impact—which are interconnected within a unified framework for the faculty’s development.

The Dean of FEB UNRI, Dr. Hj. Alvi Furwanti Alwie, S.E., M.M., stated that the CoE in the research domain discussed in this meeting is not merely a conceptual initiative, but a faculty policy direction that is implemented consistently.

“We position the FEB UNRI CoE as a shared foundation for developing research that is relevant to the characteristics of the Riau region, particularly wetland areas, while also addressing future challenges in strengthening the green economy,” said Dr. Alvi.

Furthermore, Dr. Alvi explained that in 2026, FEB UNRI will issue technical guidelines for research directions, formulated in alignment with the FEB UNRI CoE framework. These technical guidelines will serve as an initial reference for research implementation, while also providing flexibility in research design to allow for further development in subsequent years.

“With these technical guidelines in place, lecturers and researchers will have clear guidance, while remaining adaptive to the evolving dynamics of issues and research needs.”

Through this meeting, FEB UNRI hopes that the 2025–2029 research roadmap will not only strengthen the faculty’s scholarly identity, but also deliver tangible contributions to the development of a green economy and the sustainability of wetland regions in Riau Province.
