The Faculty of Economics and Business Supports Freedom of Expression for Students

The Faculty of Economics and Business always supports and provides a platform for freedom of expression for everyone, especially students of FEB, through various initiatives. One critical form of freedom felt is the freedom of attire.

The leadership of the Faculty of Economics and Business, through Circular Number 1457/UN.19.5.1.1.2/KM/23, has issued guidelines for student organizations regarding the attire of new students, emphasizing that attire should be free, neat, and ethical. This directive marks a departure from previous practices where new students were required to wear black and white uniforms for a certain period.

Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Dr. Hj. Alvi Furwanti Alwie, SE., MM, stated that this policy was issued because she believed that regulations concerning the attire of new students could potentially threaten freedom of expression. Moreover, it could inadvertently foster practices such as bullying, differential treatment, and other actions that do not align with the culture the Faculty of Economics and Business aims to cultivate.
